Strips going going gone!

I am not going to be a horder!  This morning just after breakfast it was off to the sewing room to dispose of many many accumulated strips.  I did keep the one in beige strips, but the rest are gone. They were sorted by color but off they went.  In the morning before I get out of bed, lately I have been there  thinking of these bags of strips.  Their time of usefulness has passed for me, a friend brought over a large bag of normal sized fabrics that was what made me finally do something about it.  Another friend is giving me 2 large shelf units for my sewing room, my goal is the sewing room (unfinished basement) will get organized.

I do not feel like I have lost anything so maybe I am not a horder after all.  Tomorrow I will feel even better.

May 11, 2010

Just want to post to move along in life, sadness seems to come at us in all directions.  Today was the anniversary date my mother passed away.  She would have like Ryan so much and thought was a bright young man he is growing into.

Tonight will be the last night of OQG meetings for the year, will either turn in a quilt tonight or take it to one of the area quilt shops to be in the 2010 32nd Annual Quilt Show.  I have enterered my transparancy quilt, a summer quilt for our bed, really nice happy quilt with lots of colors. It was not a difficult pattern just had to make sure I put the correct colors where they belonged to make some of the colors look transparent.

Here is Joyce with her Patriotic Quilt made from Offutt Quilters patriotic block exchange. Our goal is to have everyone complete the quilts by May 1st. We are all getting together on April 8th to work on the quilts that need to be completed. I really hope we can get this accomplished. Did not ever intend to get people started to making quilting blocks only want to see all the finished projects. Molly is one of the Offutt Quilters that has completed both of the quilts from our block exchange.

My Challenge for the OQG Quilt Show

This is my entry to the 2009 OQG Challenge in this years quilt show.  I want to add one more button and I am finished.  I used the Thread Caligraphy used by one of the Guest Speakers this year at the meeting.  My project has been in my mind for a while and I am so happy I was able to get it done.   Will put a purse I made for Linda  into the show as well as my jacket made in Becky Moyer’s class.

Slide show is up and working! Thanks to Janet's help.

I am so excited the directions Janet Hartkeys of LFA sent me I was able to get the slide show set up on my blog. Now to add more photos of quilts I have made. The learning process for the blog has been challenging and I continue to explore and learn more each time I work on it. I now even have two followers, happy to see they are both quilt lovers.

Happy Easter to all. I was able to call and talk to my family today. Bill and I had a quiet Easter, went to Church and had a quiet dinner just the two of us. Our traditional Easter meal of ham, scalloped potatoes, green bean caserole, and fruit salad.

Did not even go down to my sewing room today, looked at a couple of quilting magazines. Even sent an e-mail to Quiltmaker editor a photo of a bed quilt I made using a pattern from their magazine, who knows maybe they will show it. It was a variation of the South Shore Road quilt, I needed it to be bedsize so I ad to change the pattern a bit. It is fairly like the original, I made the pelican but ended up not using it on the quilt, but did use it on another project -- cannot even remember what it was used on. I will try to post the photo here that I sent to Quiltmaker.

Went and quilted on the long arm, there is a lady here who rents time on her machine. I think that is the only way I will ever get things quilted is on a long arm, using my home sewing machine is very difficult and really puts a strain on my neck and arms. Hopefully the more I do it the better I will get at it, she lives only 10 minutes from my house. She allows me to quilt at no charge for charity quilts, I just bring her a tax write off form from the charity. This way it gives me some practice time and gets a charity quilt completed. I worked on my Christmas Quilt yesterday and I still have some things to do on it, some I missed, one block I had to rip out part of it as I became a little carried away.

Hopefully I will get some help on how to set up a Picasa Album on line, I really would like to have a slide show of my various quilts. I continue to go to the help section but have not really figured out how to get the photos downloaded. I am on dial up and it is so slow I think it times out before I get it done. I will continue to e-mail the photo to my blogspot.

I am going to my sewing room to finish up the quilting on my Christmas quilt, get the binding made and hopefully sewn on before it is time to get dinner going. All for now.
